Yes great idea, I often add lentils to mine to stretch the meat. I usually use dried green or brown lentils and add them for the last hour or so of cooking (although you could add them earlier if you prefer softer, more broken down lentils . Top up the liquid levels with stock or water as needed.
Added chicken liver - such a good way to make the bolognese even more nourishing!
Your daughters are very lucky to have you cooking such comforting, nourishing food! Thank you for subscribing and commenting x
The original recipe I use is from my very well thumbed The Art of Eating Well and the chicken liver addition is from a suggestion by you on a cooking video from years ago! So thank you to you and your sister!
I’ve got a daughter in law who I think is due around the same date as you.. so I’d like to help batch cook. Are the Vegware containers freezer proof? X
Hi Melissa
I’d like to replace some of the beef mince in bolognese with lentils.
Please can you tell me what kind would be good and when to add them?
I batch cook for my girls at university and your recipe is their favourite, especially with chicken liver added!
Thank you

My mom taught me to batch cook. It's so easy to know there's always something to eat for dinner in the freezer!
yes I love the feeling that I can pull something out of the freezer for a speedy dinner!
